Oyl & Anime Club Boys

These babies came to us from mamas Olive Oyl and Janet who arrived on 6/4/16 from Holbrook. Olive’s babies were born 6/7/16 and Janet’s were born 6/14/16. The boys were neutered 8/31/16 and can live with ladies beginning 9/21.

Foster mom Robin has a long chat with Olive Oyl’s to help her come up with 17 names for her babies. I’m sure everyone was figuring along the lines of Popeye characters. BUT Olive never married the father of her children, she’s a single lady so she decided to give her own last name to her children, especially where as the dad is not paying child support and we doubt he ever will.  Meet the Oyl family!

UPDATE 11/22/16:

“Soybean is the most curious and loves to explore outside of his cage. He’s always one of the first rats to come out to play. He’s a little nervous when being handled and doesn’t seem to enjoy it as much as the others.

Corn is a complete sweetheart and loves cuddling. Once I have him with me he’ll sit with me for hours while I stroke him. He’s never very eager to explore but once he sees the others he comes out and plays too.

Safflower is probably the most well-rounded with everything. He greets me every time I enter the room and loves to come out of the cage and play. He doesn’t get nervous when I approach him and loves to be patted.

Sesame follows Corn around a lot and I usually find them cuddling together. He doesn’t seem very interested in coming out of the cage to play but also enjoys being patted and cuddled.

The only rat I haven’t gotten a chance to really know yet is Rogue. He seems to be the most skittish around me but does follow the others to explore out of the cage and seems interested in me.”
