Mainely Rat Rescue has a Rat Behaviorist Volunteer!

Sandy is a professional pet trainer with extensive experience training dogs, horses, and birds. As a foster for Mainely Rat Rescue, Sandy enjoys helping rats with behavioral challenges overcome their fears, thus preparing them for a happy forever home. She is now using her expertise in animal training and behavior for the benefit of other rat caregivers.

Sandy offers online classes on a variety of rat behavior topics such as: the basics of handling, building trust, human-rat bonding, medicating rats, and working with rats who have behavior challenges (shy, fearful, and unsocialized rats, and rats with a bite history).

Currently group sessions are only open to MRR fosters and volunteers, but private consultations for behavioral challenges are available to anyone. Group sessions on a variety of topics will be available to the public in the near future.
