These rats came to us from Holbrook on 6/4/16! The youngest babies (born 6/3) will be ready to go home by 7/8.

The boys were neutered on 7/14 and will be able to live with the ladies beginning 8/4.

Fostered by Susie in Framingham, MA.

UPDATE 6/21/16:

Some personality highlights:

Matilda: This is a very sweet momma. She’s let me pick up her babies without any fuss, and let me pet her while she was nursing. She gets a little nervous when you pick her up at first and makes herself very flat, but then relaxes in the crook of your arm and starts bruxing.

Edmund: named after Sir Edmund Hillary because he likes to climb up, up, up your arm. But if you pet him and hold him close, he likes to snuggle. He just licked my lips. And he got his first bath from our dog Louie. Has a very faint beige head at this point.

Roo: Likes to be held. I pet her for a while and when I put her back, she came right back over.

Chloe: Very active.

Brynn: she’s a beautiful dark gray color. She’s the smallest of the bunch and was the wiggliest, but held very still and closed her eyes when I pet her.

Andre: Also a beautiful dark gray color. Is probably Brynn’s actual brother. He’s one of the biggest even though he’s part of the younger litter. I named him after Andre the seal, but now I think of him as Andre the giant.”

UPDATE 7/23/16:

Walter and Edmund: Of all the boys, these two are the most tentative. They have similar personalities and are often sleeping cuddled up together. They’re a little nervous being picked up unless you catch them after a nap, but are content to hang out in a hoodie once you get them. Walter is a little more outgoing than Edmund, but both are going to grow up to be big squishies.

Kingsley: The most outgoing of the boys. He’ll often come over to the door of the cage to be picked up.

Henry: Also comes over to be picked up. He’ll stay still for a while as you hold and pet him before it’s time to go exploring.”

UPDATE 8/1/16:

Kiko: You have to really coax her to come to the door of the cage. She’s skittish about being scooped up, so I wear a backwards hoodie and she’ll climb into it. Once you have her out, she always on the go.

Gracie: Also have to coax her to the door and let her climb in a hoodie. But then she really relaxes and seems content to hang out there. She likes being pet.

Kora: Also have to coax her to the door and let her climb in a hoodie. But then she seems to like hanging out in the hoodie and bruxes when you pet her.

Chloe: The most outgoing of the girls. She’s always the first one to the door and has no problem letting you scoop her up. She really enjoys being held and will sit still. She often sits in the palm of one hand while I try to type on the computer with the other.

Dante: Is often seen hanging out with Chloe. She is also one of the first to the door. She’s a little more skittish about letting you scoop her up, but will let you continue to try without running away.

Scout: Takes her cues from Chloe and Dante.  Will come to the door but is tentative about being picked up. But then seems to enjoy being pet once you have her.”

UPDATE 10/8/16:

“Gracie and Scout both have wonderful personalities. They’re still a little shyer than their sisters, but if the other two come over to the open door and I coax them over, Gracie and Scout do as well. They’ve never bitten and are easy to pick up. They seem to be very mellow and spend a lot of time sleeping. Gracie really loves the Stealth wheel.”
