UPDATE 8/5/23:
“Opal and Sapphire remain curious. Sometimes they come over to the cage to investigate when people are around and other times they like to stay relaxing where they are. Loud noises will startle them. They almost always come and take snacks from people. They prefer to not be picked up. Opal did bite me one time when I picked her up. I think it is because I have made her associate my hand with snacks. When out playing Opal will come to people at times but prefer to hide behind us. Sapphire doesn’t really like to come near people at all during open play.
Quartz has become a lot more comfortable. She almost always comes over to investigate. She will take snacks and rarely hides in fear like she did when she first came. She prefers not to be picked up but doesn’t put up much fight, doesn’t squeak and is somewhat calm. She will not sit still much so it is best to take her out in a place she can roam with the option to hang out with people. Be on guard because she is quite the escape artist and if you don’t pay attention she may get out of her cage or try to escape during play time!
Ruby hasn’t changed much. She is pretty easy going. She will nibble on your body parts looking for treats but does not appear to be doing it out of aggression or fear. She is the easiest of the group to pick up. She loves coming out to play and was okay spending time in the bonding scarf as well.”
UPDATE 6/27/23:
“Quartz and Lapis are the most shy of the bunch. They will eat off a spoon but you have to bring it to them most of the time. Lapis will never move towards people/the spoon but sometimes Quartz will be a little brave and come seeking snacks a little
Ruby, Opal, Sapphire, and Diamond are all shy but over the past 2 weeks have become a little more comfortable. They will come up to the cage to investigate when people are near by. They will come over and sniff your finger and maybe nibble a little in hopes of snacks. When feeding off a spoon Ruby will allow you to pet her leg. She will climb up your hand a little as well.
None of these girls have bitten me no matter how much I harass them!
They love hammocks and hiding. Haven’t figured out how great boxes are yet.”
