UPDATE 12/12/23:
“ALL babies have been handled since they were a day old. They are the sweetest! They are friendly, curious and playful. Love being handled, come over to human interaction. Love being pet, snuggled and giving kisses / grooming anyone who gives them attention. And they love attention! They are a little hesitant to be scooped up at first as most rats tend to be but if you sit at their cage with the doors open and rest your arms near the door they will climb on you and sit on your shoulder, cuddle your neck or dive into your shirt to snuggle brux and boggle. They are 100% ok being picked right up but will scurry at first. I tend to pick them up for a min or two and love on them, I then hold them to the cage door to run back if they want to so they don’t feel trapped. That tends to make them want to be held more as they know they can go anytime. I’ve been making sure to have plenty of cuddle sessions with all of them. They enjoy hiding in my shirt and cuddling on my shoulders, neck or chest.
They are extremely playful, curious and silly. They love to wrestle with eachother and with our hands. We wiggle our fingers or gently tap them and they will wrestle while we tickle their belly or backs. They run around and climb on everything, enjoy running in and out of hides, tunnels and hammocks. They like climbing the bars of their cage, lava ledges and ropes. They are very active. They love their plastic igloo hide, baskets, space pods and especially their plastic pop accordion tunnel tube. They enjoy relaxing in hanging fleece hammocks and other hanging beds.
They’ve enjoyed playing in water as we have a toy play sink that runs real water. They also enjoy card board boxes full of tissue and paper or empty to hide and play in. We free roam once a day in a playpen rodent gate (yes they do climb the side bars to try and get out) for an hour. I’ve also started roaming them in my bathroom as its safe and enclosed and baby proof.
They are EXTREMELY treat motivated and love their treats. They enjoy all kinds of treats. Almonds and other nuts, baby food snacks like the puffs and cookies. Fruit and vegis which I give them at least 3x a week in variety. Crackers, chips, yogurt, yogis, cereal etc. They love food! Watermelon and natural whole almonds are a big favorite.
They LOVE grooming us and giving us kisses. They will give lots of kisses when snuggling.”
