UPDATE 7/14/25:
Rusty and Dusty are two 4 month old Pink Eyed White (PEW) brothers looking for a quiet and peaceful home. These boys have made great strides in the past month and now will happily take treats from your hand or lick food off your fingers.
Rusty likes hanging out in the hammock or in a box on the upper level of the cage. He is the more outgoing of the two, and loves getting cheek and behind-the-ear scratches.
Dusty prefers the bottom level and is obsessed with boxes, especially ones he can completely hide in. Dusty is more timid about being handled but will run to the the bars to say hi when you enter the room.
The boys prefer to redecorate after cage cleans and will rearrange their fleece, litter box, and hides. Rusty and Dusty are very good about using the litter box but will go elsewhere when it reaches a ‘threshold’ – they will let you know it’s time to clean their cage when they stop using the litter box and start going elsewhere in the cage.
They enjoy time out of the cage, provided there is a box to hide in and treats to forage. They tend to fear-poop when first taken out of their cage or picked up, so transferring in a box is preferred. Rusty and Dusty are most active after dinner time, and love wrestling and taking turns pinning each other. They love trying new foods, and their current favorite treats are frozen peas, crunchy watermelon, and blueberries. It is very cute giving them red fruit like cherries and tomatoes because the juice stains their lips and it looks like they are wearing lipstick!
Rusty and Dusty’s individual personalities and preferences will continue to emerge with love, patience, and lots of treats.
