Hazel and Juniper came to us on 6/15/23 because their owner had become allergic.  Rosie also came to us on 6/15/23 because her owner could no longer keep her.  Rosie was introduced to Hazel and Juniper and they all became fast friends.

UPDATE 7/20/23:

“Rosie is very sweet and doesn’t mind being handled. She gets along well with the other girls, but isn’t really bonded to them. (I introduced her to two of my girls and they got along fine) The other two fosters are usually snuggled up in the hammock, Rosie occasionally joins either one or the other, but I never see all of them together.

Juniper has been getting a lot better, but still doesn’t like to be picked up. Following Rosie’s lead, she will climb on me, but has to initiate the contact. She’s still bossy and likes to groom the other girls. I love to watch her do the weird twirly thing like she’s hanging on the monkey bars.

Hazel can be kind of a grump. Tolerates being picked up better than Juni. She loves her nap times. Her and Juniper wrestle a lot. There is a lot of pinning and chasing each other. Usually this ends up in some squawking, but they love each other.

They enjoy fruits and veggies, but don’t eat as much as my other rats. (They often leave good in their bowls) They are leery when I hold out snacks. Hazel is still a little “teethy” about taking them if I’m not careful. They are making progress and slowly coming out of their shells.”
