UPDATE 9/23/26:

These boys are looking for a very special adopter – someone who is patient, understanding and willing to get to know them on their terms. They have been through a lot of changes in their lives and have come a long way in foster care.

Romulus is the slightly more confident of the two, though not bold by any means. He will be the first to come to you for treats, and he leads the way for his brother. Remus, the shyer of the two, often stays behind until his brother takes a treat, and he may prefer to eat it from the floor rather than take it from your hand. Although both boys prefer not to be handled, they will sometimes come to an offered hand if it smells interesting.

Both boys are easily moved from cage to play area in an igloo or hide. Once out of the cage, you can sit in the play area with them and let them explore. This will be the best way for them to get to know you.

Romulus and Remus have been briefly introduced to other rats, and it would seem that careful introductions could work.

These boys may not be the cuddly types of rats that people show off online, but they are sweet and gentle boys. If given enough time to settle in, and if their boundaries are respected, they could become wonderful companions.
