#2019288N, “Orpheus”, Rat, Fawn, Standard Ears/Standard Coat, Male, DOB: 06/01/2018, Spayed/Neutered?: No
UPDATE 6/12/19:
“Orpheus loves to be petted inside the cage, but hates being picked up. He is the most curious and outgoing, and very affectionate. He enjoys exploring the play area, and doesn’t want to go back to the cage when playtime is over!
Pixel is easy to handle and likes to sit in my lap or explore the play area. He is affectionate and very sweet.
Both of these boys come to the front of the cage anytime I am nearby. They take treats from my hand, and have good manners about licking baby food from my fingers. So far, they’ve enjoyed all the foods I have given them.
They like to hide in a hut and snuggle in hammocks.”
UPDATE 8/25/19:
“Pixel and Orpheus are both very friendly and curious. They always meet me at the door to the cage, and Pixel loves to climb right out into my lap. Orpheus is less confident about climbing out of the cage, but enjoys coming out, exploring, playing with other rats, and sitting in my lap. These boys are sweet and calm, and both enjoy being petted. They also like exploring during playtime and hiding in boxes, and are great couch companions. Orpheus knows lots of different treat sounds and comes running for his favorites (gerber puffs and rice chex), but Pixel is not very food-motivated.
They use a litter box, like to hide and play in boxes, hidey huts, and hammocks, and have great manners when taking food from human hands! These 2 get along great with each other, and they have been introduced successfully to neutered males. Orpheus has shown some signs of aggression toward another intact male, so it may be difficult to introduce him to another intact male.”
