UPDATE 11/21/23:

“It’s been a full two weeks since I picked up Owen and Winston. Getting to know them better has been so much fun. They are just such personable rats. Winston is a huge love bug. Owen is a bit more independent.

They can be a bit squirmy when first taken out of their cage. But that is just because they are so excited for play time. After they get their zoomies done, running around the bathroom, Winston really wants to be held and petted. Owen checks in quickly, then is back off to the races, climbing in and on all the things I have for their play area.

Owen hangs out in a hammock frequently. Winston prefers to be in a hidey house rather than a hammock. They love their treat times. I make a mini salad nightly for them of a bit of fruit, some red pepper, some tomato, chopped carrot, a bit of green leaf lettuce and they go crazy when I come upstairs with it. So cute.

They are very gentle rats. Owen “tastes” but never with any ill intention. No teeth. It is just his way of exploring. A sharp “meep” will stop him. I think I would consider them “beginner” rats. I also think they could live with another gentle rat. Maybe a spayed lady, or a non dominant boy.

I hope they get their forever home soon. They deserve to be loved for the rest of their lives. And I think the longer you have them, the better they will get.”

UPDATE 11/10/23:

“These are two of the sweetest rats I have ever met. They are just attention sponges. If I approach the cage, they are climbing up the doors to get out. So cute.

Winston is the more snuggly of the two. He’s the one that likes to be held and patted. He will sit on me during playtime.

Owen will swoop in and get a little bit of attention, and then take off running again. He does like to “taste” toes, but never nasty; more curious. He stops when I make a noise at him. He is very bold. He loves the Wodent Wheel. I have a yellow one and he is the only one that uses it. It is a riot. He is slow but he is having fun! He also loves his hammock.

Both of these guys are exceptional, little creatures. Anyone who adopts them will be very lucky.

They are good about being picked up to be taken out of the cage. I put them on my shoulders to being them to the play area.
