UPDATE 1/13/18:
“While these girls are identical in looks, their personalities are as individual as they come, and you will have no trouble telling them apart!
Orchid is outgoing, though she is still timid when being picked up and around new people (treats help!). She comes right to the cage door when I walk in the room. She waits patiently for food, and will climb up onto my hand to get it from me (this is how I earned her trust; I would only give her food if all four paws were in my hand). She likes to run around, play hand chase, and explore outside of the cage. She is also curious about other rats. When she’s had enough love, she will tell you by pushing scrap fabric/bedding toward you until you close the cage doors.
Tulip is an absolutely peach. She is still quite timid, but seeing Orchid interact with me has helped her open up a little bit. She is incredibly gentle when taking treats and food from my hands, but is quick to run and hide with them. She will peek out from behind hiding spots (igloos, the litter box) and wait for you to come back with more food. She is a little jumpy with fast movements or noises (including other rats’ sneezes!) so it’s best to move at a slower pace if you want her to come check you out!
Both of the girls are about 95% litter box trained (we all have accidents sometimes). They love hammocks, trying new foods, and snuggling under fleece scraps. They’re definitely interested in their surroundings, and I think having one or two other, more confident rats would help them come out of their shells.”
