UPDATE 8/19/24:
These four boys are coming along slowly but surely. No one is a biter, but they’re still unsure of human handling. All four will come up to the front of the cage now to take treats gently, and all four can get scooped up, but they’re not always too thrilled about it.
They will all allow some petting- mostly just sitting there stiffly as it happens but some of them seem to slowly be learning to enjoy themselves.
They can be good shoulder riders and can be carried for awhile but will start squirming after a little bit.
They get along famously amongst themselves- I’ve never had boys who fought less than these guys. I think there was one squabble over a treat once and that may be it. They’re funny in that its almost always three of them cuddled together, and then the final one will be taking his rotation getting some alone time.
I think as they age and get calmer, with lots of time and attention, these boys could learn to be cuddly. Right now they’re learning to be brave and slowly getting used to human contact but still pretty skittish.
UPDATE 6/3/24:
They are all fairly skittish sadly, with Garbonzo and Cannellini being the most outgoing. They allow me to pet them but don’t enjoy being picked up. They do not nip and are beginning to take food from my hand. They all seem very healthy, they just startle easily.
Their favorite foods are lentils, peas, cucumber and pasta.
