UPDATE 9/24/24:

Maitake and Morel are extremely active! In fact, the most difficult thing fostering them so far is getting them to be still long enough to get their pictures lol. Ultimately the most difficult part will be saying goodbye when they go to their furever home.

Maitake is the more outgoing one and will jump right into my hands when it’s time to go to the play area. Morel is a little more cautious, but is still fairly easy to get back and forth between the cage and play area with a tiny bit of patience. Both are on the go during play time, enjoying making tunnels in the dig box, playing with the water in the toy sink, diving for cheerios in the ball pit and solving food puzzles. Typical young does, they are too busy for snuggling and prefer their humans to play rather than cuddle.

If you enjoy hours of crazy rat antics these girls are definitely the right choice for you!

UPDATE 8/7/24:

These girls are very curious and adventurous, but also at the moment quite skittish. They are learning to trust humans. They are very jumpy at sudden movement and noise.

Button is sweet, but very nervous and jumpy. She will investigate hands if they are in the cage near her, but she evades attempts to be picked up.

Inky is the most confident rat of this little quartet! She is very sweet and not particularly jumpy. She does well being handled and held but currently prefers not to be picked up. She readily investigates new things and has been among the sweetest of her siblings since she was quite small.

Maitake is nervous of human handling, but if you are calm and quiet with your hands near her, she will investigate your hands. She is handleable, but can be jumpy if she sees an opportunity to get back to her safe space.

Morel is the least social of the bunch. She loves her sisters but isn’t a huge fan of her human keepers. She is learning to be more curious of humans than afraid, but at the moment she still prefers to avoid them.
