These ladies came to us on 6/21/24 from an owner had had become overrun with rats. Amanita gave birth to the Mushroom Litter on 6/30/24.

UPDATE 8/7/24:
These three didn’t have the best start to life, but they are learning how to trust humans.
Amanita is the amazing mom to the mushroom babies! She is currently in her “project pet” era as she moves on from being a full time, protective mom to learning how to trust humans and enjoy treats! At the moment she is skittish and does not enjoy handling. She does, however, thoroughly enjoy baby food on a spoon or out of a pouch. When she was taking care of her babies she became very bitey, but she has not made any attempts to bite since separation.
Chanterelle is the sweetest girl! She is very handleable and will often run right up your arm! She seems to enjoy head rubs. She loves baby food- especially the meaty kind. Her right eye has degraded, but she doesn’t let that slow her down! Due to her vision being impaired by her missing right eye, she can sometimes be startled when approached suddenly from her right side. Occasionally she will bite when startled this way. This is easily avoided by announcing your presence and making sure to approach her from the left whenever possible.
Enoki is a shy girl but she has already come a long way! She is slowly learning that humans can be trusted. When Enoki first came into foster, she was extremely fearful and hid all day. One time she hid so well that she scared her foster mom into thinking she’d somehow escaped! Now she will come out with her friend, Chanterelle, to watch for humans outside the cage. Chanterelle is watching for snacks while Enoki is just along for the ride. Enoki is still too shy to take food from humans- even if on a spoon- but she no longer immediately flees when hands are near her.
