These boys came to us on 10/23/21 from a home that had several oops litters.

Fostered by Mike in Wellfleet MA.

ADOPTED!

#2021807N, “Mickey Mantle”, Rat, Blue, , Standard Ears/Rex Coat, Male, DOB: 06/23/2021, Spayed/Neutered?: Yes 12/20/2021

#2021812N, “Yogi Berra”, Rat, Agouti, , Standard Ears/Rex Coat, Male, DOB: 02/23/2021, Spayed/Neutered?: Yes 12/20/2021

UPDATE 3/2/22:

“They’re settling in and being socialized. Mickey is still a bit suspicious of my hand but is letting me pet him while in the cage. He still gently bites my fingers but it’s really not a bite, more a taste.

Yogi is doing even better and now ventures out onto my arm, although with caution, but he doesn’t like being petted and would rather run around on the bed and come to me at his own pace.

I am very pleased with both of them, they are both friendly with my other friendly rattos, with Yogi being very happy to meet others and Micky asserting himself a bit but nothing serious at all. Hopefully they will continue to make behavioral progress and become the fun little boys I know they can be!”

UPDATE 5/12/22:

“Mickey has finally come around. He will freeze when you pet him, but now he allows you to pick him up! Yogi now lets me pet him and is still happy to climb onto my arm. Mickey is good with girl rats but not so much Yogi, who is too much for them. Mickey stays on my bed while Yogi goes everywhere! Lol. They are such beautiful Rex boys and neutered, so adoption is in their best interests.”

UPDATE 6/10/22:

“They have calmed down now, with Yogi quickly trusting my offered arm to climb out on to and be transferred to the free range area. Mickey took much longer but immediately let me pet him by freezing in place. Eventually he started allowing me to pick him up as well and now comes out to free range quite happily. Yogi is more adventurous but both are good free rangers. Both do very well with all other rats except aggressive intact males. Both will occasionally nip my hand but not bite. They are good candidates for adoption by moderate to expert rat keepers, and should do fine with intros.”
