ADOPTED!
#2020238N, “Mario”, Rat, Grey, Berkshire, Dumbo Ears/Standard Coat, Male, DOB: 12/21/2019, Spayed/Neutered?: No
#2020239N, “Luigi”, Rat, Grey, Berkshire, Dumbo Ears/Standard Coat, Male, DOB: 12/21/2019, Spayed/Neutered?: No
Special need: Mario is quite shy and might need some extra help in socialization with a patient adopter!
UPDATE 5/20/20:
“Mario is still pretty timid around people. It is clear he has not been handled much as he is still a bit nippy when he’s sniffing hands. He has broken the skin a couple times, but nothing as bad as our former Hollis boy. He’s allowed little pets in the cage and will carefully take food from hands. I’ve had him out in a hammock cube and he would let me pet him but would still try to hide. We’re continuing to help bring him around but he should have an experienced adopter.
Luigi has made great progress and went from being as shy as Mario to wanting all the attention. He’s constantly at the door following us around and loves to be pet. He has been out on our laps and the couch exploring with no fears, even when a cat got too close.
We have briefly allowed our other foster boys to wander their cage and they have shown no aggressive behavior towards new rats so this weekend we are going to try and get all 4 boys on neutral territory. We’re hoping that will help bring Mario around some more.”
