UPDATE 10/31/22:
“These girls are shy around humans, but very friendly around other rats and have made a TON of progress over the 2 weeks I’ve had them. They love to chew wooden toys and to hang out in hammocks. They learned to use their litter box in under a week because they are smart rats. They will come up to you, crawl in your lap, and will usually take food from your hands. They are still uncomfortable being picked up in bare hands (doable but they are scared) but do great being picked up in a cloth.
Penelope is especially nervous about humans. She will sometimes put her teeth on you when she feels nervous – she has never broken skin, but she is still working on learning good manners. She is submissive to other rats and just wants to be friends.
Lila is a little bolder, but she still doesn’t like being removed from her cage. Once she’s out for playtime she realizes that it’s fun to explore. She likes to sniff at her humans, but she’s a little skeptical about cuddles and pets for now.”
