UPDATE 9/18/26:
These sweet girls are looking for a special adopter who will take things slowly and get to know them on their own terms. Coming from a shelter, thay have been through some difficult times and a lot of changes. Thanks to their very patient foster mom, they have come to realize that humans are ok and that they are safe. Like many rats, they prefer not to be handled, but will interact with people outside the cage in a play area or bonding scarf.
Half & Half is the bravest of this trio. She’s always first to come to the doors for treats and attention. She’s obsessed with noodles, and her adopters should have a stockpile reserved for her. She’s not thrilled about the picking up process, but once she’s up you can typically hold her for a moment or two and she’ll even occasionally allow you to give her scritches.
Lightning is never far behind Half & Half when it comes to treats. She’s the biggest foodie and will rarely turn down a chance to store her snacks for later (after eating a few of course). She also enjoys laying just out of reach and staring into your soul; it’s her hobby. As for picking up, she does pretty well though she can be a wiggle worm at times. She’s not very fond of petting.
Pixie is quite shy compared to her sisters and has come a long way. She can still be skittish at times and dislikes being approached in her nest but becomes a different rat when out of the cage for playtime. Though she dislikes being handled, when the treat container comes out she’ll step onto a hand for treats as long as it’s on her terms! In the past, Pixie has bitten out of fear, especially around her nest or with hands simply deeper in the cage. She has been making good progress with this, but her adopters need to respect that her cage is her space and it’s best not to try to reach in for her.
Overall these girls have come a long way. They will need time to settle in before any real interactions can happen, but once settled their personalities will come alive.
