UPDATE 6/4/23:

“This group of Lexington Patriots can be described as a mixture of shy, and skittish, yet curious. They’ve only been with me for about a week, and most socialization has been done inside the cage. The boys all startle at sudden noises, and either jump into a ‘rat pile’, or scatter to the four corners. But when everyone is up and active, they will come over to the front of the cage and listen intently to what I’m saying…. then run off if they get spooked.

John Parker is probably the more outgoing of the group. He readily takes food from me, and today was the first to venture out of the cage and onto my desk.

William Dawes is coming along faster than I thought he would a week ago. When yummy treats are being handed out, he will come out of his hidey over and over to get some.

Elijah Sanderson and Solomon Brown are doing OK, but pretty shy. We did have one free range, and I was able to pick each one up and settle them on my lap, where they did stay for a few minutes to be pet.

Paul Revere is probably the most reclusive so far. He can go either way; most times he is in his hidey while treats are being handed out, but today he surprised me by starting down the ladder from the cage to my desk.

I’m eager to see how far these boys can come in the weeks ahead !”
