UPDATE 12/4/23:

“These cute girls have been through a lot of changes in their few short months of life. They started out in a pet store, and were brought home by a kind and compassionate person who wanted to give them a good life. Unfortunately, she became ill after she had had the rats for only a couple of months, and she could no longer care for them. During their time in foster care, they have gained confidence, and have really come out of their shells. They are curious and love to explore. They run to the door of the cage if they think treats are being offered, and will happily take treats from your hand. Recently, they seem to enjoy escaping from their cage or carrier and running around the room, so free roam time in a play area is a must. They can be fairly easy to catch if you offer an open carrier door. They have started to explore their new playpen and all of the toys and hiding places inside it. New situations, noises and items can make them a bit skittish until they are used to them.

Although they still do not like to be held, they can be transported from their cage to a play area by using their carrier. With time and patience, these sweeties should continue to become more confident and trusting. They would do best in a home with experienced rat owners and no small children.

Laura is the bolder of the girls, and is very eager to take treats or to escape from the cage to check things out. She is adventurous and loves to explore. She does not like to be held, but is easy to catch simply by opening the carrier door so she can hop in.

Lucia is fairly confident and can often be found perched on top of her water bottle in her “lookout” position. She is gentle when taking treats from your hand. She enjoys exploring outside of the cage.”
