UPDATE 12/30/20:

Larry is the most human-social of the bunch. He is always first to the cage door hoping to come out and play or to get some sort of treat. He has no issues being picked up or handled. He also is one of the first male rats I’ve had that uses a wheel.

Bramble is the most shy and timid of the group and frequently needs to be taken out of the cage for free roam time. He doesn’t have any issues being picked up. Once out of the cage he loves to explore and climb.

Red is the biggest of the three and can also be somewhat shy and timid as well. When inside the cage, it’s best to give him his space especially if he is in an enclosed area. He will generally come out of the cage of his own free will for free roam. He would prefer to not be picked up, but he has gotten more used to being handled over time and recently has been enjoying cuddling inside of a sweatshirt for 10-15 intervals while being pet. I think he’d be best served by a patient, experienced rat owner.

Red & Bramble are definitely best buds and can frequently be found cuddling together in a hammock or space pod. Occasionally Larry gets to have a turn with one or the other and sometimes you may even find all three crammed into a space pod.

All three will take treats from your hand (they are especially fond of mini-M&Ms), do a pretty good job of using their litter boxes and are all meticulous tail groomers.

They all display the distinctive head bob of pink-eyed whites and my guess is all have extremely poor vision which could explain some of the timidness in Bramble and Red.”
