UPDATE 3/7/20:

“The boys are getting better each day. Glitch now readily comes onto my lap when I sit right in front of the cage door, lets me stroke him and scratch behind his ears, and I give him oats after each brief interaction. It seems like he’s starting to enjoy the petting.

Kix also now comes all the way onto my lap, and I do brief touches with him before treating. He’s not yet enjoying it yet, per se, but he doesn’t shy away anymore.

They have very distinct ideas about housekeeping in their cage. I provide packing paper to add interest to the cage. They’ve begun ripping off pieces to add to their nest box. Tonight, Glitch was furiously trying to drag a large piece into the box, unsuccessfully. Funny to watch.

Still somewhat fussy about healthy/fresh food. Peas seem ok, and tomatoes. They ate some broccoli and cauliflower. Carrots are ignored, as are peppers and berries.”

UPDATE 3/13/20:

“Today, Glitch decided on his own to climb from my lap up onto my shoulder and perch there for a while. It was such an honor!!

Kix comes more readily onto my lap now, and seems fine with me petting him while he’s eating.”

UPDATE 4/18/20:

“They’re confident and easy to handle and fairly active for boys, at least when out of the cage. They’re completely unafraid of my chihuahua.

I bought watermelon today and they decided that’s acceptable. Love peas. Banana is so-so. Still pretty fussy, but I keep offering fresh stuff.”
