Fostered by Lindsay in Wells, ME.

ADOPTED!

#2023675N, “Gerald”, Guinea Pig, Black, , Guinea Pig, Male, DOB: 04/25/2022, Spayed/Neutered?: No

Skinny pigs require special care. Experienced guinea pig owners preferred.

UPDATE 11/6/23:

“He’s a very cuddly happy boy who loves his carrots, water and hay! He’s happy doing his own thing, but if you like curling up with a blanket, he’s your piggy! Super cuddly and affectionate, even grooms my hands.”

UPDATE 10/25/23:

“Gerald is your average piggie with a few extra quirks and will need somewhat special care. A home with previous guinea pig experience is ideal for him.

He’s very laid back and doesn’t make much noise and pretty much keeps to himself. He drinks more water and eats more food than any creature I’ve seen before. Half the time, you’ll see him asleep in his hay bin because he fell asleep while eating.

He doesn’t enjoy his coconut oil baths, but will tolerate them and sit pretty well. For his baths once a month or so we fill the sink with a couple inches of warm water, gently rub off all the dead skin, dry him off, and rub some coconut oil on him.

Because he’s hairless, he will need to be kept in a warm area in the house with no drafts and may need extra humidity during the winter. He’s a very good boy and will allow you to pick him up, but he doesn’t love to sit for too long. He’s used to being in his own room with only one other guinea pig in the room, so not much foot traffic or noise. I’m sure he could adjust to being in a more active room in the house as he’s not very skittish and has a pretty care free attitude. He’s pretty nonconfrontational when it comes to other piggies and will most likely get along with another with a similar personality to his.”
