Francis came to us on 10/5/19 because her owner had too many guinea pigs and couldn’t care for her anymore.

Fostered by Melissa in Norton, MA.

ADOPTED!

#2019471N, “Francis”, Guinea Pig, Tricolor, Texel, Female, DOB: 10/01/2015, Spayed/Neutered?: No

Special need: Francis came to us under-nourished and with an ear infection. She will need to have her weight monitored to make sure she is staying healthy. She is on ear drops through mid-November and may need vitamin C supplements for life.

UPDATE 10/18/19:

“Francis has such a sweet temperament. She enjoys snuggles and chin scratches. She chews on toys and seems excited to explore the pen I set up with tunnels, cardboard, and fleece to burrow under. I saw her popcorn for the first time yesterday in the pen. Francis has lovely, multicoloured, curly fur, but because she is a Texel, it is thick and she is long haired, so grooming is more involved. Combing, bathing, and haircuts will be needed.

Francis is picky about her veggies and is unwilling to eat peppers, tomatoes, and some others that my piggies have loved. An exception is cucumbers, which she chows down. She won’t try any fruits I have attempted, though she clears up her greens, including lettuces, endive, dandelion greens, parsley, and kale. Francis looks forward to oat hay as a treat every morning. I doubt she would eat Vitamin C chews for piggies, so I have been feeding her crushed vitamin in water via a syringe.”

UPDATE 11/2/19:

“Francis has one week left with her ear drops and her ears look so much better. She has started to try and likes foods she wouldn’t touch at first, including peppers, carrots, corn husks, and all flavors of Healthy Snackers. She has not gained weight yet, but I am hopeful with the expanded diet. Francis is really good about baths, and even seemed to enjoy a warm blow-dry!”
