Bert and Ernie came to MRR on 9/30/25 as part of a large hoarding situation. Due to their fearful nature from their living conditions, as well as being moved to several fosters, it was decided that they would become sanctuary rats.

Ernie came from a hoarding situation with his friend Bert, arriving as a very timid boy who preferred not to be handled. Today, he has transformed into an absolute sweetheart. Ernie is a curious and busy guy who loves carrying his toys around, strategically placing them in his food dish or moving them to different levels of his cage. His other favorite pastimes include destroying cardboard boxes and cuddling up in the hammock with Bert.
