ADOPTED!

#2023344N, “Dusty”, Rat, Blue, Berkshire with Lightning Blaze, Standard Ears/Standard Coat, Male, DOB: 12/07/2022, Spayed/Neutered?: Yes 05/30/2023

UPDATE 6/16/23:

“Dusty is a sweet but shy little guy.  He’ll readily take treats but he is not super food motivated.

He loves to explore during free roam, but is not a fan of being picked up.  I generally leave the cage door open and just let him come out of his cage when he’s ready.  When it’s time to put him back, I can usually coax him back in with a small piece of banana chip.  Sometimes I’ll have to catch him when he’s in a large cardboard tub or hut and then just move that to the cage door to lett him hop back in.

He isn’t bitey or nippy, but he can give a little bit of a light teething when exploring your hand to see if you have any yummy treats so he would probably be best suited to someone with prior rat experience.

I have been able to scoop him out of his cage to bring him out onto the couch to watch TV with us in a room away from the cage area.  He’s not a fan initially (lots of squirming and fear poops), but he’ll eventually settle in for head scritches under a blanket with lots of bruxing and boggling.

The person who found and surrendered him said he got along with her rats in the short time she had him so I’m optimisstic that there shouldn’t be trouble on his end with future intros.  He does desperatley need some friends to teach him “how to rat” again.”
