UPDATE 1/22/24:
“These gals have come a long way. No longer fearful both are handleable and will climb onto my hand to get a lift back to the cage after playtime. Comet still enjoys the occasional ride in the igloo but likes climbing onto my shoulder just as much. Cosmo likes to nibble on my fingers. This isn’t biting just affection and curiosity.
Both now enjoy scritches and petting. They are the total package of looks and personality!”
UPDATE 9/24/23:
“These girls are looking for a very special human who understands that we get there faster when we go slow. Shy but curious these girls have conquered so many challenges getting ready for their furever home. They were extremely afraid of humans when they arrived at foster care. But thanks to the help of some more confident rats showing them the way, they have learned that humans can be good trustworthy caregivers! They once hid when people approached the cage. But now come to the cage door looking for a gentle voice and a yummy treat that they take very politely from my hand. They are still not ready to be picked up. But they have learned to be transported back and forth between the cage and play area in an igloo. They get right in on their own and would like their new human to do this rather than being picked up by hands. Their special human will need to learn how they do this. They love digging, building nests, foraging and redesigning their cage setup’s. They are very entertaining and really beautiful.”
