UPDATE 11/27/23:
“These two are quite the opposites, but well-socialized and adorable as all get out!
“Cookoo for Cocoa puffs” girl Cocoa is the brown and white one. She is very playful and speedy, and does most of the ‘redecorating’ in the cage. While in their cage she will play with me when I tickle her! She has a looong face almost like a wildie, and her nose wiggles a lot when she’s sniffing. She has very strong instincts, and I would advise against trying to integrate her with old/sick rats.
Dot is smaller than Cocoa and is the more dominant of the two, always pinning Cocoa during play. She is more timid while in the cage, and will wait for Cocoa to climb out onto me before also coming out and accepting pettings. If you catch her in her hammock feeling sleepy, she loves scratches and boggles like crazy!! But when awake she’d rather not be pet. She is very gentle and great with my remaining rat, 2+ year old girl Rose. She’s a special one for sure!
Dot might be very touchy when in a new home and need several days to open up, but it is SO worth it! These two chewed through 2 plastic water bottle necks so they will need glass/metal ones only. Cocoa LOVES to burrow, so I suggest a big cocoa coir dig box for her during play times. :)”
