UPDATE 5/13/24:
“These boys are absolutely amazing! They are easily handled and picked up. It is easy to see their previous owner gave them a lot of love and attention.
Clover and Nettle are two of the most human social rats I’ve ever seen. They live for human attention and tend to stay perched and even sleep in a position where they will easily be able to see you coming in to the room so that they can beg you to let them out and play.
Lavender and Lilac are a little more reserved, but they are also very interested in the coming and goings of the humans and will wait at the gate hoping to come out when not nestled in a hide or hammock sleeping together.
All four love to explore, run, popcorn, climb and wrestle each other during free roam. They will all also hand wrestle with me. I also have to be particualr careful not to step on Clover and Nettle as they can suddenly be under foot trying to climb up me. All four will come running at the shake of a treat bag when it’s time for them to hop back in their cage after free roam.
I’m still trying with minimal success to get them to use there litter boxes. They love their morning veggies and snacks such as Cheerios, Gerber puffs, banana chips and mini M & M’s.
Each one of them have very beautiful markings: Clover has a nice heart shaped white marking on his chest, Nettle a white blaze on his face, Lavender a beautiful agouti coat and Lilac with striking siamese points.
As far as intros go, their previous owner said introducing Lilac and Lavender to Clover and Nettle went super smoothly. They all get along really well together. There are some squeaks here and there when they are wrestling during free roam but it never goes beyond “boys being boys”. In that regard their adopter should be comfortable with average intact male rat behaviour.
I would highly recommend adopting them as a set of four as the mellow nature of Lavendar and Lilac does a very good job of tempering the excitement of Clover and Nettle and vice versa. They are truly a turnkey mischief.”
