Charles came to us in August 2021 from a different shelter – he was biting and unable to make friends. After a neuter he was able to meet some lady friends, but still not human-friendly enough to be adopted out. He loves meeting all the other senior Sanctuary ladies in his foster’s home.
UPDATE 2/6/22:
“Charles is my big, squishy, skittish but loving darling. He’s the dominant rat, technically, but always takes his food after the others and cedes it to anyone who wants it. He sleeps a lot, loves his ladies, and enjoys full body scritches. When he’s playing he has the highest pitch squeak of the whole group, and sounds like a rat 1/3 his size. It’s pretty funny. He can be skittish. He hates being told he’s a good boy in a high pitch, which I tend to do. He gets nervous when I reach for him. However, I can wake him from a deep sleep without any concern and he no longer bites, at all.”
