Bones came to us on 10/18/19 because his previous owner experienced behavior issues with him.
Fostered by Theresa in Somerville, MA.
ADOPTED!
#2019500N, “Bones”, Rat, Brown Masked, Standard Ears/Standard Coat, Male, DOB: 10/18/2018, Spayed/Neutered?: No
UPDATE 12/1/19:
“Bones is a bit of a misnomer, as this fella is rather large. He is very curious and outgoing and greets me at the front of the cage any time I am nearby. He is energetic for such a large guy, and it is pretty adorable when he runs. He loves to explore and is also very food motivated.
Bones loves to sleep in a hammock. He also always stashes his food in a box in the bottom of the cage, which is fun to watch. He is a perfect gentleman when it comes to taking treats from human hands. He loves to get out of the cage to explore and has mastered the game of looking for treats under cups.
The previous owner reported that Bones sometimes bites humans. In the month+ that he’s been with us, no one has been bitten. Bones sometimes gets nervous and puffs up his fur or otherwise acts afraid and we are cautious when that happens (though it is always easy to pick him up with a piece of fleece). He doesn’t seem to like hands coming down from up above to pick him up, or hands coming in from the side to pet him. Otherwise, he is fine with being picked up from the cage, taking treats from humans hands, licking fingers and toes, being pet when he can see your hand coming at him, and sitting in my lap.
The previous owner has also reported that Bones has needed tooth trims in the past. Bones saw a vet early in his care with me. She indicated that he would probably need his teeth trimmed as some point, as they are beginning to splay, but that he seemed healthy for now.
Bones would love to live with some spayed females or neutered males.”
