UPDATE 9/23/24:
These boys are soooo ready to find their forever home!
They all have really warmed up to humans! They greet me at the cage door and Jupiter loves to climb up my arms. Although they are not particularly interested in snuggles, they realize humans are fantastic jungle gyms and bring the yummiest food.
Jupiter is the most confident, Blueberry follows in his footsteps, and Ron is quite cautious. He warms up quickly with treats.
They absolutely love playpen time and will hop in a carrier for transportation! It’s amazing to see them confidently romp around and enjoy being rats.
They came to me quite skittish, so I think they would do best in a home with some rat experience. They would appreciate humans that understand they may not want tons of touch, but they absolutely want attention and treats! They have no history of biting or aggression so they can be handled for health checks.
They all get along extremely well. I think they would accept new rats into their family, especially low or medium energy rats. If you have a lone rat that recently lost their friends, these may be the boys for you! They are neutered and ready to mingle with ladies.
UPDATE 7/7/24:
Blueberry is a sweet, curious lil guy! He is the youngest of the trio and the most playful. He will sometimes enjoy a little tickle and get the zoomies. He was a tad skittish when I first got him, but with just a few weeks of trust training he’s comfortable being picked up! Now he’s a comfortable, confident rat that loves to adventure. I think he might enjoy humans the most, sometimes he will accept neck scritches.
Jupie is very confident, bold, and daring. He has the least fear out of the bunch and has a thirst for adventure. When I open the cage he enjoys climbing up my arm and going onto my shoulder. He doesn’t mind being scooped up and he’s very food motivated. Sometimes he will just -go- for things without thinking about his next steps, he’s so daring!
Ron is a shy, sweet boy. He’s fairly cautious, but since I’ve been hand feeding him treats daily, he comes to the cage door and is happy to say hi! Rats are very smart and quick learners, so with time and lots of hand-feeding treats I’m certain he will learn to trust humans enough to be petted without scuttling away. He finds comfort in his more confident buddies and will shadow behind them when exploring.
He would do best in a home with humans that understand he needs a gentle, calm approach. He has never bitten (even when grabbed!) and is extremely sweet to his rat friends. Ron is very endearing and has big, deer-like eyes that are so photogenic!
Overall, all of these boys are very well behaved and active explorers. They don’t try to escape their playpen and use a litter box (most of the time). They haven’t chewed up any hammocks and are very respectful of each other. They are still learning to be affectionate with humans, but Blueberry and Jupie already understand humans are fun to climb on and explore! Ron knows humans bring the yummiest treats. They are an amazing trio!
