Momma April and her babies came to us on 5/19/21 from another shelter that didn’t have space for them.

UPDATE 7/7/21:
“April is a very funny little rat. She will take any opportunity to snatch snacks from me but is not super into humans generally. She’s pretty tolerant, and has not tried to bite. Doesn’t love being handled but doesn’t give me any problems about cleaning around her or rearranging her things. A bit of a bully to the babies when I let them play together so might need some strong willed rats to keep her in her place, or maybe just some lazy neutered boys who have a lot of tolerance. Would probably be fine in a home with people who aren’t expecting a super cuddle bug and like a little attitude in their lives.
The babies are all pretty similar personality wise. They’re very sweet but somewhat scared girls. They will take hard treats from me if they can run away to eat them in their houses, but won’t stick around long for soft foods. Pretty tolerant for being picked up/pet. If I leave the door open for cleaning they will climb right out and start exploring so while they are clearly nervous about humans they are quite bold otherwise. They love shredding paper and cardboard so I’ve been saving lots of packing paper for them. They are definitely more curious and interactive than they were at first and I think they will always be on the jumpy side but will probably do nicely with most folks. None are biters.”
