Elphaba (MRR Rocky) came to us on 11/23/24, along with her sister Glinda (MRR Dahlia) when their owner no longer had time for them.

Fostered by Nicole in Wethersfield, CT.

These girls have come so far since coming into foster care! They have become more social, and they come to the front of the cage to “talk” with me. They take snacks right from my hand-especially if it is avocado! They still do not like to be picked up and Elphaba has been known to bite when nervous. Glinda has never bitten but was slower to socialize. Now she lets me briefly pet her and even redirect during social time. She is the more athletic of the two. Elphaba is the boss in their relationship and is more protective of herself and her sister so sudden movements make her nervous. Both girls have learned to love cage cleaning time. They explore everything that comes in or out of the cage, around the cage, and me while I’m trying to clean.

I am very proud of these ladies. Learning that voices mean attention, that food is tasty, that cardboard boxes are for chewing, hammocks for snoozing, and that they can make shredded nests in the Sputnik hanging pod! These are huge steps, and it’s wonderful to see the progress they have made in the months they have been with me! I can’t wait to see what the future holds!
