UPDATE 7/14/25:
Do you love rats? Do you love American Ninja Warrior? Then we have the perfect duo for you!
Poppy and Jasmine came to us from a situation where they were loved, but under-socialized. With patience, attention, and treats, these girls have blossomed (pun intended- flower names) into the most amazing little companions.
Jasmine, the pink eyed white, has the cutest kink at the end of her tail. But that doesn’t stop her from completing her Ninja Warrior course all around the rat room. She uses her whole body to climb the plastic barrier “warped wall”. She is also adorably vocal and squeaks whenever picked up. She never bites, just makes herself heard when moving her off of something she wants. She enjoys scritches and climbs on her foster family for cuddle time.
Poppy, the agouti, also enjoys climbing. Instead of the plastic “warped wall” that Jasmine climbs, Poppy will climb floor lamps and desk legs. She is particular when she is being pet and really only enjoys scritches when she’s on her foster mom’s shoulders or lap. She went from unable to be picked up to being easily picked up without complaint. She also loves stepping into her sushi hide to be transported around the room. Poppy occasionally gets in the mood to rub her little body all around the room. It’s incredible cute, but her new family needs to know how to read her body language and not pick her up directly when she gets in that mood. Foster mom interrupts her by showing her the sushi hide and she eagerly jumps in. She will occasionally put her mouth on a finger as a warning to give her space, but has never once bit hard.
These girls will make their new family so happy. Due to their high activity and Poppy’s occasional moods, we do recommend they go to a rat savvy home and to people who can read rat body language. Their foster family has an 11 yr old boy, so they are fine for kids who can respect their boundaries. They love the 11 yr old and think he is a fun jungle gym, and he has helped bring them out of their shells.
