UPDATE 10/4/20:

“The boys are doing great!

Barry is such a good boy. If he’s up and about he’ll gladly meet you at the gate in hopes of a treat or a scritch. When he’s relaxing in a hammock or space pod he happily welcomes rubs and scritches.

Bash has come a long way. He is skittish and scared of any loud noises or sudden movements. He prefers to be left alone if he is in an enclosed area in the cage like a space pod or an igloo, but if he is resting on a shelf or open hammock he will tolerate a relatively quick stroke or two.

Both boys live for free roam time and will come out of the cage on their own accord first thing in the morning after a plate of veggies time permitting, when I get home from work at 5pm and then one final romp around 8 or 9.

They love, love, love their snacks. Bash will actually crawl up on my lap to get some Cheerios, Gerber puffs, pieces of banana chips, mini-M&Ms or yogies. I have even been able to pick Bash up for small amounts of time to give him a look-over or telephone him to make sure his lungs sound good when he hops on my lap to get a treat.

Both boys are extremely good about using their litter boxes (best I’ve ever had). They also don’t do a lot of chewing or scent marking.

I feel that Bash would do best with an experienced rat owner who can understand that he will probably never be a cuddler but has a lot of love to give in his own unique ways :)”
