These girls came to us on 6/4/19 because their owner was moving and couldn’t bring them along.

MEDICAL NOTE We were informed after their surrender that these girls originally came from a breeding home that tested positive for serious pathogens in December 2018. Luckily these girls escaped that breeder home in July 2018 so while unlikely, there is a chance these girls were exposed, but never became ill. These girls have lived in an adoptive home since July 2018 and entered MRR custody in June 2019. We have been advised by multiple vets that the girls are well past a period where the infection would be active or contagious, and the likelihood that they present a risk to healthy rats is minimal. These girls are amazing and sweet and we would love to give them a shot at a forever home that understands and accepts their history.

UPDATE 6/28/19:

“These girls are so sweet! Most of them would be perfect in a first-time home or a home with kids.

Pixie is an incredibly sweet girl who loves to give kisses all over. She is often found with either Stormy or Starbuck.

Fern likes to give kisses but is a little more hesitant to start out. She can be scooped up gently if she knows you’re coming.

Feather is the most hesitant of the girls but is still easy to grab for a reasonably experienced rat owner. Once she’s been picked up she becomes a little limp squish, though she does tremble a little bit. She can nibble sometimes, so I wouldn’t recommend her for a brand new owner or one with younger kids.

Stormy is very active and always trying to be the center of attention. She also loves to give kisses and is found with either Pixie or Starbuck.

Walnut is a very middle of the road girl–she’s friendly (and, you guessed it, gives kisses) but can also blend into the background. I would wager she is a more submissive girl who could do well in a home that might already have a dominant rat.

Starbuck is a sweet little old lady and has a cataract in one eye. She’s more nervous about being picked up because of it, but is very easy if you let her know you’re approaching (she won’t bite, but can get startled). She is usually the third to the front of the cage right behind Pixie and Stormy.”
