Ezra came to us on 2/9/19 because his owner was too allergic to him. Ezra does not seem to like other boys, so he should only go to a home with spayed females or with an experienced owner willing to take introductions very slowly.

Fostered by Dani in Beverly, MA.

ADOPTED!

#2019102N, “Ezra”, Rat, Blue, Capped, Standard Ears/Rex Coat, Male, DOB: 08/22/2017, Spayed/Neutered?: No

UPDATE 2/12/19:

“After having Ezra for a few days, I’ve gotten some time and found out a little about his personality. He’s a total gentleman, very careful about taking treats from hands. He’s shy, and never thrilled about being picked up, but once he’s out he’ll happily cuddle up under a blanket, or carefully explore. He’s very people friendly, and loves attention. Any scratching or petting and he just melts, and he bruxes and boggles like mad when I give him kisses. He’s not outwardly affectionate yet (though I did get some little kisses today); he’d rather sniff hands and faces than lick, but I’m sure with a little love he’ll be a perfect lap rat.

I haven’t had the opportunity to introduce him to other rats yet, and I will update when I do. We are currently working on his cage manners, as Ezra tends to nip when fingers go through the bars. It’s not mean spirited, and clearly just mistaking fingers for treats, but he’s taking everything in stride and learning quickly.

Overall he’s a total sweetheart, and he’ll be someone’s best friend I’m sure.”

UPDATE 3/14/19:

“Ezra has stopped nipping since being separated from my boys, and has gone back to his sweet snuggly self. I would suggest someone with patience, but he could be great with girls”

UPDATE 3/26/19:

“Ezra has really come out of his shell recently. He’s become a little attention hog and love loves loves people! I’m still unsure about how he’ll do in introductions, but he’s been good with seeing and smelling my boys without getting aggressive, and I’m confident that with lots of time and patience he could become a good rat friend. Playtime is his new favorite thing, and with some lessons in manners Ezra has started hand wrestling with me! He’s very good about not using his teeth, and has the energy and curiosity of a much younger rat! His favorite thing is cantaloupe, and I try to give him some with his dinner as much as possible, but he still gives me glares when I run out! This sweet boy has such a personality!”
