Boris is a male blue hooded rat. His owner could no longer care for him and wanted him to find a home with someone who had more time to devote to him. He came into custody on 2/13/16.

According to his owner, Boris is reserved but curious and once comfortable, he is very silly.

UPDATE from first foster mom 2/18/16

Boris is a very sweet boy who loves human company.  He runs on his wheel but not frequently.  When he first arrived, he was a little homesick but he’s really come out of his shell in just a few days.  He is at the cage door waiting for me whenever I enter the room, and is what I would call a pretty big squish.

He is low to moderate energy and enjoys a good snuggle.  He is not skittish at all and even when not sure of himself the first few days he was very laid-back.  His most radical behavior was stuffing his head, but just his head, under his bedding when he realized I was serious he should come out.

He loves treats but sometimes he’s a little goofy.  I tried to give him a Honey Nut Cheerio, one of his favorites, but I accidentally dropped it on his head.  Poor sweet Boris continued to look at me expectantly, Cheerio on head, while I laughed at him.  He would be a great candidate for a “Hats on Rats” photo spread.

I think Boris would be a good rat for almost any family.  Our house is quiet, so I’m not sure how he would do with wild hustle and bustle, but he’s been pretty accommodating of everything and seems like a cheerful, resilient guy.

UPDATE  2/26/16

Boris has the sweetest face ever and a personality to match. Boris is inquisitive and very cuddly. Every time you walk by his cage, he looks at you with the saddest eyes, pleading to be taken out and held. He came as a single but we have begun to introduce him to a pair of boys and so far, so good. There is no aggression. This boy is eager for some rattie and human company.

Fostered by Leticia and Michael in Merrimack, NH

Boris was neutered on 2/24/16 and can live with the ladies on March 16th.
