These girls came to us on 10\/23\/21 from a home that had several oops litters. They were adopted in December but returned 1\/1\/22 as one of the girls was biting.<\/p>\n

Special Need: Both girls are shy, and Meringue may bite when nervous.

UPDATE 1\/11\/22:<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Both girls are very curious and frequently come to the front of the cage when I’m around. Meringue is definitely more courageous than Brulee. Since they have a bite history, I have only used a towel to pick them up to get them out of their cage.<\/p>\n

The first few days Meringue would panic and get very agitated when I’d try to pick her up with the towel. I believe she would have bitten had I used my hand. However, after a little over a week to get used to the routine and some lifting\/handling outside of the cage (during bathtub free play time), she seems to be building trust in me and is more comfortable with lifting and handling. I think her new home will just need to be aware that until she builds trust in her people and adjusts to her surroundings, she is more of a “fight” rather than “flight” kind of girl.<\/p>\n

Brulee is curious, but cautious and either runs to hide or freezes when I go to retrieve her from the cage. She recovers quickly though and is right back to the front of the cage a moment later to see what she’s missing. As her previous owner mentioned, Brulee loves to build a nest, and she disassembled an entire toilet paper roll last night only to shove it all into a paper bag and curl up amidst the mess.<\/p>\n

As I mentioned, I’ve been very cautious about it, but as such, neither girl has bitten me. Potato has gently nipped my hand – looking for food – but not hard.”<\/p>\n
