{"id":13612,"date":"2016-09-19T15:34:59","date_gmt":"2016-09-19T19:34:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mainelyratrescue.org\/rattieblog2\/?p=13612"},"modified":"2016-12-28T21:10:46","modified_gmt":"2016-12-29T02:10:46","slug":"maleficent-and-anna-freud-behavioral","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mainelyratrescue.org\/rattieblog2\/maleficent-and-anna-freud-behavioral\/","title":{"rendered":"Maleficent and Emily"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Maleficent came to us from another shelter on 6\/5\/16.\u00a0 Her owner had left her pregnant at the shelter, along with her bonded companion.\u00a0 Her friend and her babies were all adopted quickly, but Maleficent was left alone.\u00a0 As a result, she did not trust people and would bite anyone who came near her.\u00a0 The shelter knew Maleficent was a good rat, but that she needed more socialization then they were equipped for.<\/p>\n<p>Emily came to us on 6\/4\/16 as part of the <a href=\"http:\/\/mainelyratrescue.org\/rattieblog2\/?p=12743\">Holbrook Rescue<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The moment Maleficent and Emily met, they were instant friends.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fostered by Patterson in Dedham, MA.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>ADOPTED!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><del>#2016256N, &#8220;Emily&#8221;, Rat, Pink-Eyed-White, Standard Ears\/Standard Coat, Female, DOB: 02\/04\/2016, Spayed\/Neutered?: No (Mom)<\/del><\/p>\n<p><del>#2016208N, &#8220;Maleficent&#8221;, Rat, Black, Standard Ears\/Standard Coat, Female, DOB: 01\/05\/2016, Spayed\/Neutered?: No<\/del><\/p>\n<p><em>Special Need: Mal has a history of biting<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>UPDATE 9\/19<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Emily <\/em>is shyer and really relies of Mal to make her feel safe.\u00a0 She is one of the last rats to come up and get treats in the cage.\u00a0 She loves to climb the cage and run in the wheel.\u00a0 She has so much energy!\u00a0 She is mouthy and will use her teeth to let me know when she wants to be left alone.\u00a0 Out of the cage she is very nervous and usually hides under Mal or one of her daughters.<\/p>\n<p><em>Maleficent <\/em>is the protector of the group.\u00a0 She has adopted Emily, Anna and all the Gilmore Girls, making sure they are safe.\u00a0 She is the first at the door, always making sure she knows what is going on.\u00a0 She loves treats, especially fruits and veggies, and is very clever.\u00a0 She lets me handle her, but she was slow to build trust.\u00a0 She explores during free range time and when she feels satisfied that everything is safe, will snuggle with Emily, Anna and the young girls.\u00a0 We are still working on pets;
