This mom came to us pregnant from Holbrook on 6/4/16. Her babies will be ready to go home beginning 7/12/16. The boys were neutered 9/15/16 and will be ready to live with the ladies beginning 10/6.

Fostered by Monica in Rockport, MA.

UPDATE 8/1/26:

Avens is a little nervous, especially outside of the cage for the first few minuets, prefers to hang out in the hide boxes in the cage or under blankets while he is out but is very sweet and doesn’t mind some petting or holding as long as he feels secure

Burnet is also a bit nervous for the first few minuets outside of the cage, but once settled he loves to climb and run around on the couch. He’d rather be on the move than getting cuddles but will sit still for a good treat.

Sumac is very calm and curious, loves being cuddled and once he’s had enough of out time he puts himself back into his cage or climbs into your lap to sleep. Spends a lot of his time cuddled up in a hammock under the other boys.

Dodder, much like Sumac, would rather hang out in your lap or hood and get cuddled, doesn’t play much during out time and spends a lot of time sleeping in a hammock.

Thistle is a runner and is the first to explore the whole play area or cage after a cleaning. After wearing himself out he likes some ear scratches before he’s off again.

Fern is a bit nervous about being held and would rather explore first. After looking around he will come back for some neck and ear scratching, especially for a treat or while in a hammock or under a blanket.

Tansy is calm and loves cuddles, will lay almost flat while you pet him and may even nod off, he also likes shoulder rides and exploring new places to play or after a cage cleaning.

All the boys love hammocks but have a habit of peeing in them so need to be washed often, the sputnik is also a favorite. They aren’t a huge fan of hide your houses, but love being under their fleece blankets. They are also lazy self cleaners so need a wipe down with a damp rag especially around their boy bits once a week.

The rex boys also get a face cleaning once a week and need constant checking and occasional flushing of their eyes, especially Thistle, to remove staining and debris. Their skin also has been a little dry so they get a little coconut oil when needed.

All love veggies and some dried fruit like banana and apple!

Not huge chewers, rarely chew on any chew toys and haven’t chewed any of their fleece. Would probably do well with litter box training, only use 2 corners to poop in, and pee mostly in the corners or hammocks.”

UPDATE 8/9/16:

“Both Iris and Aster are very active and don’t like being cuddled much; they’d rather climb around the cage, make nests in their boxes or hammocks, or run around the couch. But they are both super sweet and come up to the cage door to be let out for playtime.

Iris is a little more adventurous while Aster would rather wait under a blanket until it’s “safe” to go running to a new place. They love each other and are almost always together in their hammock or very close by the other while out playing.

Momma rat Senna has taken a lot of time to come around at all; she is very nervous. I usually get her out with a towel then she is happy to hang out in a hood while I do chores or sit in my lap for scratches. She’s laid back and is a great rat since she comes right to the door for food and to be let out too. She will give a light nip when she wants to be put away after handling, and if she’s out running around will put herself away when she’s tired as long as she has access to her cage or a hidey box.”
