These rats all came to us on 6/4/16 from Holbrook. This group is from 3 litters. One litter was born in Holbrook, NY and came to us as a few weeks old just weaned. The other two litters were born to Cobalt or her sister on 6/11 (the girls gave birth on the same day); unfortunately after the babies were weaned one of the moms passed away.

UPDATE 1/4/17 on Athena’s girls:

Cobalt is a sweet momma. When I first got her she was very scared as she hasn’t be handled a lot. She would freeze up and sit there. Luckily this meant she didn’t mind sitting on my lap! She quickly became braver and less afraid of people. She is still a shy girl, but will come out and explore the place as well as check out her human. As long as your kind to her she won’t be scared! She is getting more and more curious and LOVES treats when she can get her paws on them. She is very loyal to her friend Lottie and sticks to her like glue. Cobalt will stay on your lap for a very long time if you want her to cuddle. I just place her on my lap and she gets comfortable.

Lottie is the opposite of Cobalt in many ways. She is a bit younger and very curious. Even when I first got her and she hadn’t been around people a lot, her curiosity outweighed any fear she had. She jumps at the chance to come out of the cage and loves running around exploring…everything! She doesn’t mind me petting her when shes exploring outside the cage, but isn’t as much of a cuddler as Cobalt–she is too busy! She will climb all over her human though. Lottie and Cobalt balance each other out as Lottie helps Cobalt come out of her shell while Cobalt is loyal and always there for anything. A pair of very sweet girls!”

UPDATE 11/20/16 on Laura’s boys:

Einsteinium (Stan) is the most outgoing one. He jumps around when he is excited and is always up for a good game of chase the hand. He loves to groom my hair by running it through his little hands!

Lawrencium (Larry) is a very lovable, laid back guy. He is crazy about food and has his own secret hiding place for lab blocks. He always comes over to check on me and give me a kiss when he’s out for playtime.

Antimony (Tony) is a little more shy than his brothers, but once he’s out for playtime he is roaming around exploring every corner of the room. He’s as sweet as can be and is happy to just chill in my sweatshirt for a while.”

UPDATE 1/13/17 on Laura’s boys:

“The boys love being pet and will usually run to the cage door when I open it for scratches or treats. We’ve found that they all go crazy for broccoli. They are lazy all day, but out for playtime they climb all over me and run around like goofballs. All three are very very sweet and a lot of fun to watch.”

UPDATE 2/26/17 on Aleesa’s boys:

Gallium and Nobelium have been starting to get a bit hormonal and have been being dominant toward their brothers. They’re still sweet when they’re in our laps though. Just the other day Gallium fell asleep on my husband and woke up and looked at him like “hey what the heck?” whenever he stopped petting him!

Francium is a middle of the road guy, not too dominant, not too much of a pushover. He’d make a great pet for a beginner I think.

Plutonium (the neutered boy) is a small and very tender little guy. He’s usually hiding. His brothers tend to bully him a bit, and while he’s skittish, he’s still very sweet.”
