These boys came to us on 7/20/17 and 8/9/17 because their owner had too many pets!
UPDATE 8/12/17:
“Cthulu is a friendly little guy. He prefers to be a top-rat though he is not the boss in the cage. He is happiest in a small group–when I took the other boys for neuters and he and Oliver were left alone, he spent the whole afternoon boggling around the cage enjoying his personal space.
Oliver is oh so tiny–I’m fairly positive he is a dwarf rat, as he is about half the size of even the smallest of his friends. He is nervous and likes to hide in close spaces and be held against you. He has very cute extra-curly whiskers.
Ahab is otherwise known as “boss”. Being recently neutered, I’m sure his personality will tone down a bit, but he loves to let you know he is in charge. He has never bitten or shown any aggression toward people–if I hadn’t seen him bullying some of his brothers, I’d never know how “alpha” is is, as he is very friendly and loves to pin down your hand, give it a deep sniffing, and then walk all over it. He shouldn’t go home with Oliver, as the poor little thing is a bit scared of him.
Väinämöinen is Ahab’s opposite. He is very relaxed and squishy. He will generally stay where you put him for a minute or so before moving along, and he goes nice and limp when picked up.
Don Quixote is a huge guy! I didn’t get a great sense of how he interacts with other rats before he moved to a new foster, but he is squishy and soft, and one of the biggest (long, not fat) rats I have ever seen. He will cuddle on a lap and boggle in your arms.
Sancho is a smaller version of his dad. He has some great squish potential but isn’t yet as outgoing as Don Quixote. He has the softest tum I have ever had the pleasure to pet.”
