These boys came to us on 3/25/17 because their owner had too many pets. They were neutered on 4/27/17 and will be ready to live with the ladies beginning 5/18.

Fostered by Althea in Manchester, NH.

#2017155N, “Pumpernickel”, Rat, Blue, Berkshire, Standard Ears/Rex Coat, Male, DOB: 08/25/2016, Spayed/Neutered?: Yes

UPDATE 5/5/17:

“They’re young’uns, so they are busy busy busy!! They are more like girls at this point, running, climbing, exploring.  I try to give them a lot of free range time in the rat room. They are coming over to me sometimes, to see if I have treats.  I usually do *wink wink*

Biscuit is the calmer of the two, Pumpernickel is coming around though. They are both showing more of an interest in me, especially after they’ve had some out time to run off their excess energy.

I think Biscuit is gonna be a cuddle bug. He’s letting me stroke him and he’s relaxing more when handled. Pumpernickel is not food motivated so he’s a bit harder to work with, but each time I work with him, he gets a bit more relaxed. He’ll come and take treats very gently, often dropping them, cuz I guess he was hoping for something else, hahaha

They’ve stopped “taste testing” me, instead they sniff or lick my fingers/hands. They are both perfectly adoptable “as is” to any rat experienced person. It wouldn’t take much to finish up what I’ve started. They get along with each other wonderfully, it’s hard to picture them fighting.”

UPDATE 5/11/17:

“When they are out, they’ll come and climb on me, especially Biscuit. Pumpernickel is still a bit more shy but he comes around eventually too. They both tolerate being picked up but it’s not their favorite thing. This will most likely fade in time. I can see Biscuit being a lap rat when he’s a bit older and no longer so busy busy busy.

Both boys are very happy and active. They do like to chew wood, and don’t discriminate, unfortunately- they chew wood toys and other things that are wooden that they should not be chewing 😛

They’re ready to be adopted, in my opinion.  The are cute and lovable”
