New Year Babies!

2010 welcomed 10 brand new babies to MRR! Born sometime between midnight and 7 am on New Year’s Day, this means you could have yourself a REAL Baby New Year!

Serge and Blaque are two French Canadian rats that were adopted at a pet store in Canada.  The new owners were told they were both males, brought them home to Maine and lo and behold, a litter was born.  They were housed in a very tiny travel cage together with all of the babies.  Sadly all of the babies passed away. When the family had to move and were unable to take the rats with them, they called upon MRR to help. A prevoius adopter in Eastport, ME instantly became a foster home and we took sweet Blaque and Serge into custody. Serge, the female, was put on maternity watch.  Sure enough, while in that carrier, Serge immediately became pregnant again and this beautiful litter was welcomed to this world on the first day of this new decade!!

1/16/10 Foster Mom Carol reports that: “They are crawling all over the cage now. They love crawling up the sides all the way to the top, so I just put the ladder down on the bottom today. When I come over to the cage and start talking, they run over to see me and get excited.  They are so precious. Serge has found her forever home with her foster family.  :)
