Thistle is a senior girl (over 3 years old!) that came to MRR July of last 2017 because her owner did not have time to care for them. Thistle developed a mammary tumor which was successfully removed before she went up for adoption with her sister Kale (RIP).

Thistle is a little more shy, and not a huge fan of being held, instead she likes to set the pace and will initiate cuddles by climbing you like a tree and grooming your hair and ears. She’s a little slower to trust and is still occasionally shy about taking treats from strangers.

Because these girls were seniors with a history of biting, they were looked over. After almost a year without being adopted, MRR decided it would be best for Thistle to become sanctuary so she would have stability for the rest of their days.

UPDATE 2/4/19:

“Thistle has been having random seizures for a short while now. They are few and far between and very brief. She recovers fully from them in just a few moments. Besides that, her hind legs are not working very well, but that does not stop her from getting around. She is a very determined girl and quite honestly a bit of an inspiration in regards to her spirit.

At the amazing age of 3 and a half I do not know how much more time she will have. Then again, every time I start to feel like her time may be up, she then turns back to her “old” self again showing nothing but will to continue. One of the hardest things about fostering Thistle all this time is that she is not much of a people person. To come out of her cage brings nothing but stress. However, I have learned that she very much loves to cuddle while she is cozy inside the cage. I will often spend time petting her while she is in the cage and she will brux and boggle. On rare occasions, tonight included, she will even give my hand kisses. Those are the moments I cherish and the ones that make fostering her completely worth all the worry and thoughts of her one day not being here anymore.”

UPDATE 4/19/19:

“Thistle hangin in like a champ. Every day is a blessing with this one. Born 7-30-15 making her 3 years 8 months and still going.”
