Reuben’s owner could no longer properly care for him.   He came into custody on 3/19/16.  Reuben was neutered on 3/31/16 and can live with ladies 4/21/16.

According to his foster mom “Reuben is a lazy, pushy, almost crotchety older man. He was lucky to be in decent shape when I rescued him, but his socialization was greatly lacking. He’s come so far, and if his forever home continues with patient love, he could be an amazing pet.”

From his former owner: “He doesn’t like being picked up, but he loves to come to the open cage door for pets, and he will climb out of the cage into a lap for gentle lovings. When he’s asleep he will let me give him gentle little pets on his head. He is pretty fearless and loves exploring when in a safe space, but he’s a pretty lazy guy.

I’m not sure how he would do introduced into a larger colony. He was pretty dominant with his other cagemate. He’s a really cute guy, and would probably be an amazing pet if someone continued working with him.”

Fostered by Amelia in Brunswick, ME.

ADOPTED

#2016049N, “Reuben”, Rat, Blue, Berkshire, Standard Ears/Standard Coat, Male, DOB: 01/19/2015, Spayed/Neutered?: Yes

UPDATE 4/2/16:

“Reuben is already far calmer after his neuter. His pushy-ness has tamed down a lot. Because of this he’s let me work on picking him up and carrying him around a lot more. He’s also gotten to be quite a big snugglier! His cage is near the babies (the Cologne boys), and he doesn’t react to them at all.”
