Snowflake came from a home with a young child and her owner was unable to manage both safely.  She came into custody on 3/16/16.

According to her foster mom, she isn’t a biter but is very skittish due to minimal handling at her former home. She would do well in a rat-experienced home with no children.

Fostered by Alyssa in West Rutland, VT

ADOPTED!

#2016035N, “Snowflake”, Rat, Pink-Eyed-White, Standard Ears/Standard Coat, Female, DOB: 09/16/2015, Spayed/Neutered?: No

UPDATE 4/7/16:

I can comfortably say that Snowflake is adoptable. Aside from a couple investigative nips, she hasn’t bitten me. She loves riding shoulder, and will sit with you as long as you give her the option of being under her pouch. (I think that’s just to avoid the light.) She would need some gentle, tame cagemates, though. She mimics the behavior of those around her. We’re working on pouch training so she can climb into the bag on her own terms instead of me picking her up, which seems to be helping her confidence. I found out while talking to her previous owner that she was an only rat at the time of surrender. I think this has a lot to do with her issues in addition to her being a PEW (having worse sight than she already does).

UPDATE 4/16/16:

Snowflake isn’t super outgoing yet, but she’s not aggressive. She needs a pouch to be picked up and needs to know you’re there. She’ll need a confident handler and a home without kids.
