Winnie’s owner was very attached to her, but became allergic to her and needed to find her a new home.  She came into custody on 2/25/16.

Her owner says: “Winnie is such a wonderful companion! She is alert and inquisitive, not too shy or skittish. She’s curious and seems to be a quick learner. She always knows when it’s feeding time and gets all popcorn-y when she hears the hay bag rustle!”

Miss Piggy was born to a mom rescued off Craigslist while pregnant and whose owner already had many guinea pigs. She came into custody on 3/19/16.

Miss Piggy’s owner says: “She’s a very happy, popcorning piggy in her cage, but tends to be more shy and timid when handled, but I suspect that would get better the more she is handled by a new home.”

UPDATE 5/2/16: “The girls started living together in the same large cage full time 4/27 and now all is well. At first Winnie seemed pretty domineering, and we worried a bit Miss Piggy wasn’t happy, but she has found her gumption and they eat together now, although Winnie is still dominant. ”

UPDATE 4/2/16: “We just put the two girls in their adjoining larger pens. Miss Piggy is RACING laps round and round, through her tunnel, like a beagle puppy in snow! The two are nosing each other through the grates; although their former houses were adjoining, they have plastic pans on the bottom, so the baby couldn’t see Winnie unless she stood on her hind legs. They are so excited to be able to see each other now, it’s so cute!”

UPDATE 3/23/16: “Miss Piggy is such a sweet handful! We held Winnie up to Miss Piggy and their cages are adjacent, they are both vocalizing to each other! ”

UPDATE 3/13/16: “Winnie is squeaky and nibbly. I hold her every day and she seems content but she CHEWS whatever she is held upon, so I have one specific sweatshirt for holding her! she whistles up a storm whenever we open the refrigerator so I give her an additional lettuce leaf torn up or  stalk of parsley plus her daily greens. she runs laps around her cage!”

UPDATE 3/4/16:  “Winnie is eating fine, happy in her cozy cage. She figured out how to pull the fleece into the cage at one corner and tunnel between the fleece and the towel below. She has a cardboard tube that she chews and will run laps through the tube, around the cage and through the tube with every lap–quite fast! I hope she goes to a home where she will have a buddy.

Her former owner said she preferred to cuddle rather than free range, too.”

UPDATE 2/26/16:  “Winnie is a green-leaf lettuce vacuum and loves red peppers.”
